Vicki Golden Injured in Horrible Crash at Freestyle Show
Three-time X Games gold medalist, and former WMX racer, Vicki Golden posted a video today of a horrifying crash she had while doing freestyle at a recent show.
Golden, the first female ever to qualify for the night show in Monster Energy Supercross, wrote on Instagram that they had been putting soda down on the floor to get traction, but at the last show, her wheel spun as soon as she got on the gas and she came up well short of the landing.
Golden said she shattered her right heel in “five to six pieces” and that she developed compartment syndrome within 12 hours and had to undergo surgery to release the pressure. She said she hopes to fly home in a few days once she’s in stable condition.
Below is her full post as well as the video of the accident. We’re wishing the best for Golden during her recovery process.
