Watching Robots Fail at Skiing Is Funny... For Now

The Winter Olympics, which (for now) feature humans doing some pretty amazing things, is taking place in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. Another event also took place this week in South Korea, just outside Peyongchang: The Ski Robot Challenge. Yes, robots that ski—or at least try to.

The robot ski event was held at the Welli Hilli resort in Hoenseong, about an hour’s drive from the actual Olympic games, and provided some funny video of robots hilariously trying to get down a mountain.

Here are some of the funnier moments:

This is all quite funny—for now. Eventually, robots will not only learn to ski perfectly down a mountain, but destroy all of us. So, enjoy having the upper hand for now, puny humans.

Eight teams competed in the event, with the winner—TakewonV from a company called Minirobot Corp—reportedly taking home a fresh $10,000 prize. His winning time was 18 seconds.
