The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401, and Vitpilen 701 Are Coming and You Should Be Stoked

In 2014, at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Husqvarna first unveiled their 401 concepts. Since then, the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 have been well-received by test riders, but also haven’t been available. That’s about to change, and we should all be ecstatic.

Earlier this week, Husqvarna announced that the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401, in addition to the Vitpilen 701, will be available to dealers in North America, South America, Asia, and Australia by the end of April. The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 are already available in Europe, and the Vitpilen 701 will be available by the end of March.

The Vitpilen 401 is powered by the same 43-horsepower, liquid-cooled 373cc single found in the KTM Duke and RC 390. (This is where we tell you that KTM owns Husqvarna, as if you didn’t already know.) The Vitpilen 401 also has the same frame as the Duke and RC 390. According to reports, it will cost around $6,299. At this time, Husqvarna says, “For further details on pricing and availability of exact models, please refer to your national Husqvarna Motorcycles subsidiary or importer.”

Husqvarna says the Svartpilen 401 “is a modern-day interpretation of a street explorer. Featuring a bold and rugged appearance, it offers a progressive new way for potential riders to experience motorcycling.” It uses the same powertrain, hardware, ABS, and a slightly modified frame version of the same chassis as the Vitpilen 401. It is expected to be available for the same price.

The Vitpilen 701 came after the 401 concepts and features the same 75-horsepower, liquid-cooled single that is featured in Husky’s 701 SuperMoto. The price is expected to be $11,999.

Husqvarna says, “A dedicated, extensive range of Husqvarna Motorcycles’ original parts, gear and accessories to enable riders to personalise their motorcycles, as well as keep up-to-date with the latest trends, will also be on sale.”

Personally, I can’t wait to ride one of these.
