Sign Of The Times: Indoor Electric Motocross Track Opens In Ireland

There is no doubt that electric motorcycles will be part of the future of motorcycling. How much so has yet to be determined, but it’s happening.

According to The Irish News, the city of Moira, in Northern Ireland, opened the country's first indoor electric motocross track. “E-Trax” was brought forward by company directors Kyle Rainey and Gareth George following a £400,000 investment.

Per the report, the facility is 35,000 sq. ft. and offers children as young as five, teenagers, and adults the “off-road experience of motocross indoors."

There are not many more details in the article, but the mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Uel Mackin, told The Irish Times:

"E-Trax uses pioneering KTM Freeride E bikes, which do not produce noise as they lack gears and a clutch, making them environmentally friendly too; and the use of this type of bike means that the Lisburn Castlereagh area has Ireland's first certified KTM e-park."

We all know that the gears and clutch are not the part of a dirt bike that makes the most noise—that would be the engine—but we're not gonna' argue with a city that wants to help people go riding. Screw the go-kart track, let's swing a leg over and ride!
